Weekly wrap of all things Hornets

Hornets newly acquired center Robin Lopez undergoes knee surgery, team confirms Mason Jr signing and Hornets number 1 overall pick Anthony Davis continues to make the most of his olympic experience.

One of the Hornets most recent acquisitions, center Robin Lopez, has undergone a successful procedure to correct a meniscus tear in his left knee. The surgery isn't expected to hamper his training camp availability, meaning he'll have a full offseason to be educated on the Hornets systems.

The Hornets also announced the signing of UFA combo guard Roger Mason Jr. Demps has indicated that this may be the last significant signing the team makes before entering training camp next month.

Kobe Bryant was quick to take Anthony Davis under his wing during the London Olympics.
Despite many questioning the decision to include Davis in team USA's twelve-man roster, the nineteen year old has come up big in his limited court time as a member of the 2012 Meme Team. He's been a walking highlight reel and providing his USA teammates with both a versatile pick and roll option on offense and a defensive anchor at the other end of the floor.

Sending Anthony Davis to London in place of the injured Blake Griffin was an experiment many believed was unwarranted and unnecessary. There were plenty of options available for London games outside of the 2012 consensus player of the year... from Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins to Detroit Pistons throwback power forward Greg Monroe, the options were far from scarce.

But every time Davis steps on the floor, we're reminded why his entrance to the league has been built up with as much anticipation as any other rookie of the past decade. He's received both advice and praise from his Olympic teammates. Future Hall of Fame shooting guard Kobe Bryant has quickly taken a keen interest in Davis as a prospect and despite their difference in age, the pair have developed a close relationship throughout their time in London. All-star point guard Deron Williams of the Brooklyn Nets was quick to point out both Davis' current ability and his future potential, praising his ability to protect the basket and cover space on defense.

Despite Davis spending the bulk of his Olympic campaign on the sideline, he's going to enter the league with a wealth of knowledge, having been shown the ropes by some of the games best players.
